Woman Sues Retirement Home for Negligent Care

A woman is suing a nursing home for elderly abuse, claiming that the employees dropped her 65-year-old aunt onto the floor and this caused her to be wheelchair bound for life. The niece filed the eldery negligence suit on behalf of her mentally retarded aunt. The lawsuit claims that the woman underwent surgery for a total replacement of her right hip and then was transferred to a nursing home for rehabilitation of the hip. The suit alleges that the nursing home employees were transferring the woman to the bathroom and dropped her, causing injury to her right elbow, the right side of her forehead, to her cervical spine and fracturing her newly replaced right hip. X-rays revealed that the hip was broken in three places and alleges that the nursing home failed to meet their obligation to care for woman. It continues to state that because of poor staffing levels, the nursing staff could not provide even the minimum standard of care to the vulnerable residents. To read the full story, click here.
