Nursing Home Fined in Connection with Patient Death

A nursing home received a $21,000 fine for violations that led to the wrongful death of one of their patients. The victim died of complications related to dehydration. He had lived at the nursing home for 4 months and the nursing home had been neglecting his needs by failing to monitor his fluid intake, leading to his dehydration and eventually his wrongful death. The fines are also for understaffing helps attribute to neglect within nursing homes. The complaint was filed 2 years ago and the fines were just recently imposed on the nursing home for their neglect. A statement by the president of the Foundation Aiding the Elderly added that the state’s delay in appropriately monitoring nursing homes in a timely manner, adds to the high levels of nursing home abuse and that this is unacceptable practice for nursing home monitoring.
