Nursing Home Employee Accused of Sexual Abuse

A 29-year-old nursing home employee was arrested after staff caught her engaging in sexual contact with a 60-year-old male patient who suffers from a several mental defect. The employee was charged with felony second-degree endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person and misdemeanor second-degree sex abuse. The employee was off duty at the time, and was caught in the sexual abuse around 6 p.m. The man apparently suffers from several medical conditions that would have prevented him from giving consent to the sexual contact. At this point, police are unaware as to whether this sexual abuse had occurred in the past. Police are also wondering if other patients may have been victims of the elderly abuse. They are having a difficult time with their investigation, because many of the patients suffer from dementia. The woman was fired after the elderly abuse.
