Man Accused of Stealing Elderly Woman’s Drugs

The manager of an assisted living facility accused of stealing the residents’ medications and replacing them with over the county medications pled not guilty today in court. The manager was arrested by narcotics investigators with the sheriff’s office and charged with six felony counts of cruelty to a person 65 or older and counts of theft. Additionally, the man was charged with felony possession of narcotics. A family member was concerned with possible nursing home abuse and contacted the sheriff’s office. An investigation revealed that the manager had a substance abuse problem and had been stealing certain medications from the elderly resident’s to satisfy his own drug problem. None of the residents was reported to have become ill because of the replacement medications. The man accused of nursing home abuse is married to the facility owner.
