Former Nursing Home Worker Charged With Abuse

A former nursing home worker was charged with patient abuse for allegedly slapping an 85-year-old hospice patient only 10 days before she died at her nursing home. The 23-year-old employee allegedly slapped the Alzheimer’s patient. He had only worked there for approximately two months before he was fired two days after the allegedly physical abuse. The woman died ten days after the physical abuse. The complaint states that another worker at the nursing home heard the employee yell at the woman telling her to be quiet before seeing him slap her with an open hand. The complaint states that the woman appeared to be stunned by the slap. The state department stated that the employee admitted striking the woman out of frustration but said he only tapped her face. Physical abuse in nursing homes happens all too often and cannot be tolerated. To read the full story, click here.
