Abuse charges filed against Nursing Home Aide

A nurse’s aide at a nursing home was charged with abusing an 80-year-old female patient by tying her legs together during an eight-hour shift. The woman had no authorization to commit such physical restraint on the elderly woman. The victim suffered from Parkinson’s disease and dementia. She was incapable of caring for herself. Several unnamed witnesses saw the physical abuse. The woman is charged with endangering the welfare of a physically disabled or incompetent person and violating the public health law.
