A former certified nurse assistant at a nursing home has been sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to elderly abuse. The man was arrested for physically abusing an 88-year-old resident at the nursing home where he lived. The employee admitted to investigators that he struck the bedridden woman in the face, grabbed her arm and pushed her into the wheelchair. She suffered severe facial bruising and a broken collarbone. The man was initially charged with endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person in the second degree and willful violation of health laws. He was sentenced to time considered served and ordered to take an anger management class. He had spent a little more than two months in jail for the nursing home abuse.
