80 Nursing Home Residents Might be Displaced

After the federal Department of Health and Human Services conducted many surveys it appears that one nursing home is closing, leaving 80 dependent patients with out a home. The findings included allegations of abuse and mismanagement that resulted in Medicare and Medicaid pulling funding for the nursing home. One 39-year-old HIV patient reported that he had been hurt by two nursing assistants while being washed. Unless something changes between now and Dec. 11, 80 residents will have to find a new place to live. The closest nursing home only has 20 beds available. This story highlights the need for families to make educated decisions when choosing a nursing home for their loved one. To read the full story, click here.
