Alzheimer’s Association – Events and Activities for Illinois Caregivers

We’d like to share some upcoming Alzheimer’s Association events and activities that are specifically intended for caregivers of those who suffer from Alzheimer’s and dementia.

All conferences and events listed below are located in the Chicago-area or other Illinois city and are hosted by the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

  1.  The Savvy Caregiver: A 2 hour per week, 6 week FREE course designed to give confidence and knowledge to those taking care of someone with Alzheimer’s or age-related dementia. Upcoming courses take place in Rockford, Bloomington, Joliet, Eureka, Crystal Lake, and Peoria.   2. Alzheimer’s Support Groups: According to the Alzheimer’s Association, “A support group is a regularly scheduled in-person or virtual gathering of people with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, family, friends or caregivers who interact around issues relating to dementia. Groups can have social, educational and/or support components and are facilitated by individuals who have received training from the Alzheimer’s Association.” For more information, please click here.
  3.  Alzheimer’s Association Annual Conferences for both Professional and Family Caregivers: This one day conference, held on April 13, 2018 at the Par-a-Dice Hotel and Casino in East Peoria, is designed for both professional and family/personal caregivers for those with Alzheimer’s or age-related dementia. The Annual Family Caregiver Conference session goes from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and this year’s topic is “Expanding Care Strategies.” The conferences promises to offer useful tips to help strengthen relationships, take care of those you love, and stay confident and hopeful during one of the most difficult challenges one can face.
