Nursing homes sedate residents because they do not have enough staff:
Nursing homes all over the country are sedating older people by giving them anti-psychotic medication. Federal law prevents nursing homes from improperly sedating patients, but unscrupulous homes use these drugs to do so anyway. You trust your loved ones to a nursing home to take care of them, and instead of giving them the attention and care they need, the home just drugs them up.
