Staff allowed Illinois nursing home resident to become malnourished and dehydrated
A resident at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion refused 23 meals in a month and fasted for at least a week died of weight loss and malnutrition. The staff at the nursing home negligently failed to notify a physician. The ER doctor described the resident’s condition upon admission to the ER as “severely emaciated, severely dehydrated and severely malnourished.”
