Failure to administer CPR at Bloomington Illinois Nursing Home Scotchwood Healthcare Center

A resident at a negligent Illinois nursing home died as a result of the staffs’ failure to administer CPR or call 911 after she was found unresponsive. The nurse who found the resident claimed she had never received training or instruction regarding whether or not CPR should be performed. Further review by the Department of Public Health revealed that 4 of 9 nurses and 2 of 19 CNA’s had expired CPR cards and there was no evidence that 12 nurses aides had ever been CPR certified.

The Illinois Department of Health produces quarterly reports on nursing home violators. To access the website: http://www.idph.state.il.us/about/nursing_home_violations/quarterlyreports.htm
